Nobel Laureate promotes dialogues for a culture of peace.
Professor Eric Stark Maskin visits The University of Cambodia as part of the International Peace Foundation “Bridges: Dialogues Towards a Culture of Peace” presented by the Asia Leadership Center of The University of Cambodia.
The Asia Leadership Center of the University of Cambodia invites the public to spend the afternoon and dialogue with Professor Eric Stark Maskin, 2007 Nobel Laureate for Economics, as he speaks on the topic “Why Global Markets Have Failed to Reduce Inequality?”
As part of the ALC’s ongoing Eminent Leaders Lecture Series, “Bridges,” will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the UC Conference Center on The University of Cambodia’s main campus in Phnom Penh. The lecture is free of charge and open to professionals, government officials, academics, professors, students and all others looking to learn more about different aspects of leadership and peace.
In 2004, Professor Eric Stark Maskin was awarded the Nobel Prize for Economics for laying the foundations of mechanism design theory. He has worked in diverse areas of economic theory, such as game theory, the economics of incentives, monetary theory, contract theory, and the economics of intellectual property protection. His current research projects include comparing different electoral rules, examining the causes of inequality and studying coalition formation.
During the event, The University of Cambodia will bestow an Honorary Doctorate Degree on Professor Maskin for his lifetime achievement in economics.
The ALC is happy to host Professor Maskin as part of its Eminent Leaders Lecture Seriesas it strives to achieve its goal of promoting, encouraging and informing people about many different aspects of leadership. The series intends to cover a variety of topics relating to leadership, including peace, development, democracy and more. Accompanied by other programs such as workshops and interactive conferences, it is just one of the ALC’s tools to perpetuate an understanding of leadership in today’s society.
